Why Thin Capture

Thin Capture is a data center automation solution that allows you to drive cloud/virtualization ROI by saving time and cost.  By creating an on-demand test lab for your production applications, you can adopt changes more safely and quickly.

Explore the values of Thin Capture.

Reduce Cost

In any mid-sized and larger enterprise IT organizations, live production environment is where much of the organizational effort is placed.  This is where the highest tier h/w is deployed, and where the focus of the IT staff is placed.  It is the highest valued part of the data center.

However, in a typical IT organization, many other application environments are in fact created and maintained, using less than ideal h/w, and often quite under-utilized.  Yet they do take up time of the valued IT employees, and/or sometimes maintained by those IT groups who are far less skilled to do so.  These secondary environments tend to get built for specific short term project, and then maintained (expensively, but poorly) so that it can be used for other projects, taking up valuable resources.

Instead of having IT staff divert its attention among production and an array of secondary environments, Thin Capture allows the IT staff to focus on the production environment, and spin up thin replicas of the production for secondary environments on-demand.  It reduces cost primarily by allowing IT to consolidate and focus man-power while giving the staff the freedom to easily spin up secondary environments that were previously too expensive and time-consuming to build and maintain.

Thin Capture effectively allows IT to leverage and amplify the resources that are already being poured into production.

Accelerate IT

Today's IT organizations are tasked to quickly adapt to changing business requirements, but are unable to do so for various reasons.  Various IT projects are typically fighting for resources, and often stuck waiting for required resources to get freed up.  In some cases, IT projects carry a tremendous amount of uncertainty reflecting the complexity within the existing production environment that has built up over the years.

Thin Capture greatly improves the resource contention issues by creating a portal where thin replicas of production environments can be served out to all those that want a replica.  The users no longer need to wait for a staging environment to become available, nor for an appropriate IT professional to find time to synchronize it with production.  Thin Capture can provide an ideal environment quickly, and on demand.

Because it is so easy to create, Thin Capture can provide each IT professional with a private sandbox where the existing production environment and its complexity can be carefully studied.  It is an environment where complex integration testing can be performed and problems diagnosed.  One can use it to gain a clear understanding of the existing infrastructure and possible integration issues, as well as actively test the integration throughout a project, eliminating the risk for last minute surprises and set-backs.

Reduce Risk

In order to mitigate the risk of downtime, IT operations must test changes before they are rolled out onto production.  However, it is often cost prohibitive to build a test environment that closely resemble production and corners are cut.

Thin Capture helps IT organizations test better in two ways - by improving the quality of the test environments, and by providing test environments for multiple applications.  Now IT can easily and cost-effectively set-up test environments for all your applications (not just the tier 1 apps), each complete with production configurations and data.  Thus both the coverage and accuracy of the tests are improved, making it easier for IT to validate and safely adopt changes to production.

Innovate

Every CIO/CTO talks about unleashing the power of the staff by encouraging them to innovate. However, not all CIO/CTO really provides the environment and the tools for the innovation to take place.

Thin Capture, because it is able to reduce the workload on IT professionals, is able to provide more time for the IT professionals.  Additionally, by giving its users a sand-box where they can safely test their ideas against a complete replica of the production environment, encourages experimentation and innovation.
